Transfer Factors Increases the formula’s effectiveness and results. The immune-active polysaccharides in K9 Immunity work by bonding with your dog’s immune proteins. Transfer factors are needed for this bonding to occur. The added transfer factors increase the number of naturally-occurring bonds. In turn, this activates a greater number of immune cells for better results. Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids Omega 3 essential fatty acids are well-studied to help shrink tumors, lower inflammation and provide a host of other health benefits.[/tab] [tab title =”Ingredients”]K9 Immunity Blend™ 600 mg, Colostrum Advanced Protein Systems 40 (APS-40) 160 mg, Omega 3 Fish Oil Concentrate, yielding Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 66 mg & Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 44 mg.

K9 Immunity Plus for Dogs

K9 Immunity Plus for Dogs ReviewK9 Immunity Plus is a supplement comprised of three K9 Medicinals products: K9 Immunity, K9 Transfer Factor, and K9 Omega. It is intended for use with dogs undergoing treatment for cancer. Formulated as a strongly flavored chewable wafer, this supplement is easy to administer to help in restoration of health to your canine.

If your dog is suffering from cancer and you wish to provide supplemental support, this “system” by K9 Medicinals would appear to have covered most, if not all, of the bases according to our current research.  The supplement provides ingredients that will stimulate and encourage canine’s immune system. It also provides support and activation for the immune-stimulators, as well as some omega-3 fatty acids that also positively affect the dog’s body in a variety of different ways.

This supplement is an improved version of K9 Immunity; to increase its bioavailability, K9 Transfer Factor can be used.

Important: FDA’s letter to Aloha Medicinals with regards to their products of K9 Transfer Factor and K9 Immunity, as well as other products from the manufacturer not yet reviewed on NextGen Dog.

Canine physiology and background

Under normal conditions of a healthy dog, their own immune system actively protects them from illnesses by responding to both external invaders and internal cellular processes that have gone awry. The canine immune system has two basic parts: the innate or non-specific immune system, which is the initial defense line, and the adaptive immune system, which can be activated by many factors, including the innate immune system itself.

When your dog is suffering from any type of cancer, it is likely that their immune system may be overwhelmed and not functioning optimally. Recent research studies in canines, other animals and humans have shown that the immune system cell-mediated response can successfully be targeted with supplemental treatment, resulting not only in partial restoration of overall health, but also enhanced immune system activity against cancer cells. It is this potential for awakening of the dog’s immune system that provides the basis for how the supplement works: when given in high levels on a regular basis, it acts in the small intestine to signal the immune system that an “invasion” is occurring, stimulating your dog’s immune system to awaken and respond.

What is K9 Immunity Plus and how does it help

K9 Immunity Plus combines three products from K9 Medicinals line of proprietary supplements – K9 Immunity Blend, K0 Transfer Factor, K9 Omega – each of which provides certain health benefits, particularly for dogs dealing with cancer and cancer treatments.

K9 Immunity

The K9 Immunity Blend uses Immune-Assist Micron technology to combine both soluble low molecular weight and high molecular weight beta-glucans and heteropolysaccharides from medicinal mushrooms: Agaricus blazei, Cordyceps sinensis, Grifola frondosa, Ganoderma lucidum, Coriolus (Trametes) versicolor, and Lentinula edodes.

The combination of active components from each mushroom species is believed to activate many different types of immune cells in dogs. Beta-glucans and heteropolysaccharides function as immunomodulators, activating cells within the immune system and thereby triggering more cells to become involved in a cascade-type process whereby activation of one immune cell leads to subsequent activation of more immune cells, and an overall stimulation of canine’s whole immune system.

Considerable research on beta-glucans and heteropolysaccharides from mushrooms and other plant products has shown that nutraceuticals with these ingredients can have a beneficial effect on the canine system [1, 2]. What we have seen from all the studies to date is that the beta-glucans and heteropolysaccharides activate the immune system by stimulation of particular receptors on cells such as the Complement Receptor type 3 (CR3). This action results in an improved immune activity, which may also be derived in part from an intestinal response to high levels of antigens.

K9 Transfer Factor

K9 Transfer Factor is a colostrum-based mixture of small peptides that are known to interact with the compounds in K9 Immunity supplement to assist them in stimulation and strengthening of the dog’s immune system. While Transfer factors alone do not presently have a known cancer-fighting ability, they function as an adjuvant for the K9 Immunity’s beta-glucans and hetero-polysaccharides to assist them in modulating cells and turning on the immune system in your dog.

The IP6 (inositol hexaphosphate) and SOD (superoxide dismutase) in the K9 Transfer Factor supplement also both have proven effects to fight against cancer. IP6 is routinely referred to as an “anti-tumor agent” [3].

K9 Omega

K9 Omega: Omega 3 Fish Oil concentrate yields 66mg of Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and 44mg of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Considerable amount of recent studies on fish oils, and in particular EPA and DHA have shown that these compounds are part of healthy cell walls throughout the canine system. Proper dietary balance of fatty acids, and in particular an increase in dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids, has been shown to be very beneficial to overall health of dogs.

What you need to know about the supplement

K9 Immunity Plus can be purchased in the specific formulation for your own dog’s weight. It comes in three sizes: for dogs under 30 lbs, dogs weighing 31-70 pounds, and dogs over 70 pounds. K9 Immunity Plus is less expensive in the end versus purchasing each of the three components separately.

Can this be given to healthy dogs

K9 Immunity can be used with healthy dogs to potentially improve their immune system, which is especially true for mature canines. However, in general, the K9 Immunity Plus supplement is intended for dogs undergoing cancer treatments, whether by radiation therapy or chemo-therapy.

The supplement should not be used in place of veterinary treatment, but rather as an adjunct, and should not be used as sole treatment unless your veterinary or oncologist decide that this is the best option for treatment of your dog’s cancer. K9 Immunity Plus is also recommended to assist your dog when they are going through other surgeries or illnesses.

Conclusion on the supplement

The K9 Immunity Plus supplement provides a unique three-pronged approach towards stimulation and activation of the dog’s immune system, which under conditions of serious ill-health such as cancer, is an approach that has a high likelihood of providing dogs with what they need to fight the illness and return to health. The high-level of modern research on the ingredients used in the K9 Immunity Plus supplement support its potential to stimulate the adaptive immune system and aid your dog in the heavy battle against cancer.
